Joan (pronounced Joann) invited us to spend a few days at her place. Case knew Joan from residency days in Loma Linda. They enjoyed catching up, and I enjoyed getting acquainted.
We took the train and bus down to the largest town near Joan's village. On the way home, she took us sightseeing and picnicking. 
Rural Denmark is lovely and very relaxing, especially when a friendly native is handling the logistics and pointing out the hidden gems!
