Goodbye to the Alps

Today, we took a last walk to say good-bye to the now snowy Alps across the valley... and to Reideralp, our "homebase" for the past two weeks.
Every time we'd walked past this chalet we were quite impressed with the roof, and finally took a picture ... no doubt, if we have a chance to come back to visit in our life time this roof will still be here! One inch thick slate slab construction ... guaranteed for the next 500 years!?!?
Our chalet home was considerably more modest than the slate-roofed one above. We enjoyed spending two whole weeks in one place -- a much needed rest while all we've seen and experienced settled into our memories, thoughts, and feelings.

The next morning, we packed our bags, returned our rented mountain bikes, rode the gondola back into the valley, and the train back to Amsterdam.
